More than 100 players attended the event held at the Champions Sports Complex. The camp featured several NCAA Division I and II level players. It was a very strong camp for big men and 6'3" - 6'5" athletic scorers. The most outstanding player in camp was by far 6'8" 3-4 Keith Clanton a senior from Orlando Christian Prep. The powerful forward dominated the competition all day long. He showed why he was the MVP of the National AAU Championships this season playing for Florida based Team Breakdown. Athletic and strong, ran floor well and even handled ball in transition. Had great one dribble moves to the rack when facing the basket and strong post moves. Told Hoop Scout he has narrowed his college choices to Auburn, South Carolina, South Florida and Central Florida. Anthony Lee 6'9" Junior from Eustis HS in Eustis Florida is a long, athletic, raw left hander who was at national power, National Christian last season. Played some with the DC Assault AAU Program. Rebounds well and plays bigger than 6’8”. Has decent one dribble moves to the basket. Has the body and athleticism to develop into a mid to high major with the proper continued skill development. The most athletic kid in camp was 6'5" sophomore, Kasey Wilson out of North Port HS in North Port Fl. A gifed 3-4 who is a tenacious rebounder and leaper. Attacks the hole finishing with strong dunks. Has range out to 15' but is working to develop it even more. This young man will develop into a mid to high major Division I player. Plays his AAU for Team Breakdown. Every camp has a senior sleeper and in this camp that guy was 6'3" Levi Moore out of St. Joseph HS in St. Augustine. I loved how hard this kid played. Tenacious 2-3 with a great jump shot and ability to score off the dribble. Good first step, athletic and plays hard every second. Will knock the crap out of someone to score. An excellent D2 pickup but has the tools and desire to play on the low to mid major D1 level. The top point guard prospect in camp was Wes Reed, a 5’7” senior out of Trinity Christian, Deltona FL. solid, strong point, good leadership. Penetrates well., thick. The kid also plays QB on the football team. If you are any D2 looking for a kid who can run your team both in the 1/2 court and in transition then this is your man. A real good senior combo still available is 5'10" Justin Minns of Lakewood HS in St. Petersburg FL. An athletic kid who is fast and can play either point or 2, however this kid's jump shot is automatic. An excellent scorer who also can defend and has a point guard mentality. A great D2 pick up. 6'7" Kevin Campbell is another excellent senior still available from Lake Brantley HS in Altamonte Springs, FL. An athletic 3-4 who attacks the hole and runs the floor very well. A definite D2 level player but has the body and athleticism to get some good low to mid major looks. An interesting junior was 6'6" Spenser Mitchell out of Winter Springs HS in Winter Springs FL. A long kid who can play multiple positions from 2-4. A good ball handler and passer who is also an excellent scorer both penetrating and knocking down the jump shot. A great kid to monitor. Lawler Hamhers is a 6'4" senior who can play 1-3 from Dr. Phillips HS in Orlando. Has a great first step is athletic and can score the ball. Darren Stewart is a 6'4" good athletic 2- 3, strong , has nice shooting touch, attacks hole strong. Reminded me a little of KC Rivers (Clemson). Darren is a senior at Pace HS in Opa Locka FL. Dustin Speraw is a good fundamental 6'2" 2 guard out of Hagerty HS in Oveido, FL. He shoots the ball well, son of a D1 head coach so understands the game. An excellent D2 pickup however I could see a low D1 taking this young man and I could see a high D1 taking him as an invited walk on. Josh Nicholas is a senior 7 footer from Ft Myers HS. He is raw and long but fairly athletic and a decent rebounder. A great project who with work on post moves and more strength could be a diamond in the rough. Orlando Parker is a 6'6" junior 4-5 out of Orlando Christian Prep. long 4-5, posts well and will develop. Getting stronger and developing more post moves could move him to the low to mid major level. Has decent jump shot to 15’ .Parker.s junior teammate is 5'11" point guard, Josh Casteallanos, is a smart, fundamental playmaker who understands game is a good passer and good defender. Shawn Robbins is a 6'5" junior from RFM Christian in Cocoa FL a long kid who can play multiple positions and understands the game. Cameron Brown is a long 6'7" sophomore 4/5 out of Cambridge Christian in Tampa rebounds well and is skilled will develop into a low to mid major player.. Jauarad Gilbert is a 6’1” freshamn from Kathleen HS in Lakeland, FL who is a good sized 3, can knock down the mid range jump shot, athletic, rebounds and jumps well and will grow and develop.Another of the top young guns in camp was freshman, 6'0 combo guard Ricky Quiroz from East Lake HS in Tarpon Springs, FL. Good spot up shooter from 3 and beyond as well as mid range, young will develop, finishes well, good defender. Plays much older and not afraid to mix it up with the older guys. West Boca HS in Boca Raton has a very good up and coming freshman in 6'3" Paul Jones – good sized strong younger player 3-4, good athlete, good rebounder. Nemanja Remus is a an excellent 6'5" sophomore post player who is thick and strong and will grow. He is from Riverview HS in Sarasota. Eric Litvin is an excellent young point guard who is a sophomore out of North Point HS. A great passer both in transition and in the 1/2 court, great leadership skills. |
