PREP ALL STARS ATLANTA SHOWCASE HIGHLIGHT REPORT MARCH 29TH, 2008 - WALTON HIGH SCHOOL - MARIETTA, GA By John Jordan - Executive Director - Boyshoopscout.com On Saturday, March 29th nearly 100 players filled the two gymnasiums at Walton High School for the final Prep All Stars Exposure Event of the spring season. The camp was top heavy with quality unsigned seniors but also had some very good underclassmen who deserve mention including the camp MVP *****CLICK HERE TO GET YOUR RATING AND NOTES EMAILED TO YOU 1st Team All Camp 1. - Boys Hoop Scout MVP - Charles Shedrick - 6'3" 2/3 Junior - Chapel Hill HS - Douglasville, GA - Athletic wing who is great defender, has both a mid range and 3 point game. Slashes to hole very well. We had gotten misinformation that this young man was a senior. He is just a Junior and is a definite mid to high major prospect in our estimation. 2. - Boys Hoop Scout MOP (Most Valuable Offensive Player) - Julius Streater - 6'3" 2/3 Senior - Richland Northeast HS - Columbia, SC - A pure scorer, has great slashing moves to the basket, has a nice mid range game and is a relentless rebounder. He plays inside outside and attacks the rim with authority. He plays much bigger and is able to use his quickness to attack even on post players making him a good post up guard and a very hard cover. A great D2 pick up but a young man who could fit in well with the right low to mid major D1 program. 3. - Tyron Louie-Jeune - 6'5" 2-3 Senior - Dr. Phillips HS - Orlando, FL - Left handed strong and long wing with great first step. Has nice mid-range game and 3 point range. Attacks rim with aggression and draws fouls. Good defender on the ball and able to guard big or small because of his strength and quickness. An extremely good D2 pick up but has a D1 body and in my estimation could easily play in Atlantic Sun or Big South. A qualifier with an 880 SAT, 20 ACT and 2.7 GPA 4. - Boys Hoop Scout MDP (Most Valuable Defensive Player) Justin Favors - 5'11" Combo Senior - North Cobb Christian HS - Marietta, GA - A smart, stock point guard with great court vision and a nice mid range and 3 point jump shot. Was the backcourt partner with Dustin Ware (Signed with Georgia) on a 36-0 North Cobb Christian basketball team that defeated several national level opponents. Can run a team, has great leadership ability and lock down defensive ability. A definite D2 difference maker but would be a nice fit for a CAA or Atlantic Sun school. 5. - Dan Stryzinski - 6'5" 2-4 Northview HS - Duluth, GA - A very athletic and versatile player who can play multiple positions. Has great leaping ability, attacks the rim finishing with acrobatic dunks but has a nice mid range jump shot and 3 point range. Played on a very good 5A high school team and his Dad is a former punter for the Atlanta Falcons. 1040 SAT, 3.0 GPA. A very good D2 pick up but would be a good Patriot league candidate as well. 2nd Team All Camp 6. - David Johnson 6'5" 3-4 Senior - HV Jenkins HS - Savannah, GA - An athletic long forward who is powerful and attacks the rim with force. A relentless rebounder who is a hard worker and a great defender. Has a jump shot out to 15' and has a decent first step, better in the post. A good solid D2 pickup. More range and more ball handling and this young man would be a D1 candidate. 950 SAT/3.0 GPA 7. - Earl Adams IV. - 6'6" 4/5 Senior - Dunwoody HS - Dunwoody, GA - Raw, Long, Athletic 4/5 with reach of a 6'8" player. Good shot blocker, quick leaper, looks to attack rim from both low and high post. A good D2 project that will be able to contribute some right now. 8. - Matt Mendell 6'5" 2 Guard Senior - North Cobb Christian - Marietta, GA - A good sized shooting guard who has an automatic 3 point stroke. Has the size to post up from the guard spot. A smart player who was a starter on a very strong high school program. Has major interest from North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast. An excellent student who would make a very good Ivy league or Patriot League pick up. A solid D2 level 2 guard who could contribute off the bat but a D1 level player over the long haul. Reminds me of Zygis Sestokas the junior shooter out of Hofstra. 9. - Jonathan Grant - 6'3" Combo Senior - Norcross HS, Norcross, GA - An athletic long combo who attacks the basket, has a nice mid range and 3 point stroke and is an excellent defender. Comes out of a USA Today Top 10 program and knows how to play. Is smart enough and a good enough ball handler to run the point. A starter off the bat in the right D2 program and a great PG in training with size in the right D1 program. 10. TIE - Trakevion Pearce - 6'5" 3-5 Senior - Turner County HS - Ashburn, GA. A versatile long athletic player who understands the game. A great rebounder with bounce who runs the floor hard and finishes strong. Has nice face up game with a great first step to go with his low post game. His versatility makes him a great D2 pick up. 10. TIE - Austin Able - 6'7" 4/5 Senior - Canton HS, Canton GA - A big strong long kid who just flat out plays hard!!, Relentless on the boards with a nice jump hook offensively. Runs the floor as hard as any kid that size you will see. Missed most of his senior year with knee surgery but is fully recovered now. This is why he is still available. A D2 or NAIA program could not go wrong with this kid. BEST OF THE REST Justin Garner - 6'3" 2-3 Senior - Hiram HS, Hiram, GA - Athletic 2-3 with solid mid range game and 3 point shot. Has good first step and can score. A solid mid D2 pick up. DJ Bean - 6'1" 1-2 East Paulding HS - Dallas, GA - Solid combo who understands game and can play both positions. Good leadership abilities and has great first step and defensive awareness. A good D2 pick up. Aaron Ingle - 6'1" Combo - Senior - Christ School - Arden, NC - A solid combo who can spot up and knock down the 3 but is quick enough off the dribble to attack the rim. A solid defender with good anticipation skills. Comes out of very strong NC 3A state championship program and has several D1 players on his high school team he has competed against daily. A very good D2 pick up. Boys Hoop Scout MVU (Most Valuable Underclassmen) Ryan Bogdan - 6'4" 2-3 Junior - Pinewood Prep - Summerville, GA - Good sized wing who was the best of the underclassmen. Has good mid range jump shot and 3 point range. Is pretty athletic and understands the game very well. He has a chance to be a D1 level player if he can work on guarding his position. He has the quickness and athleticism to do it. Jeremy Gholston 6'4" 3-4 Senior - Shades Valley HS - Birmingham, AL - A left handed scorer who can go inside and outside. Athletic, runs floor well and rebounds hard. A good late D2 pick up. |
